Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Vice President of Cyber to join our growing team whose mission is focused on building a profitable book of business. The vision is to deliver market relevant solutions to our key wholesale trading partners in a more frictionless environment that places an emphasis on efficiencies and quality to meet or exceed our broker’s overall needs in a risk differentiated manner. If you possess an entrepreneurial passion that includes a proven track history of delivering underwriting excellence and are seeking an opportunity to break out of the traditional insurance company mould, we’re looking for you!

You will regularly interact with our wholesale trading partners over the phone, virtually and in-person to drive in-appetite submission flow and convert on the best opportunities quoted.

You can expect to work closely with underwriting leadership, business development and insurance product teams. We currently operate in a fully remote work environment, so we’re more focused on your experience and cultural fit than where you physically sit!

Responsibilities

  • Build out the initial Cyber offering from scratch
  • Work with the exec leadership team to handpick the Cyber underwriting team
  • Build and manage core broker base and GWP. You’ll ensure our brokers are getting world-class service at all times.
  • Propose & negotiate price, coverage, and terms for insurance policies, and actively identify account rounding opportunities
  • Solicit and analyze risk within guidelines and ensure proper documentation.
  • Service existing renewals and new business portfolio
  • Work with technology and data teams to create tools to enhance the underwriting process

About You

  • 10+ years proven experience as underwriter or account executive in cyber liability
  • Solid knowledge of specialty commercial underwriting, and insurance industry theories and practices.
  • Experience working with admitted and non-admitted paper
  • Ability to build, grow and lead a new Cyber team/practice
  • Understanding of pricing and risk selection criteria to achieve profitable loss ratios
  • Ability to work as a team player or independently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to underwrite new business and renewal policies for Cyber
  • Deep wholesale broker trading relationships
  • Ability to travel independently to meet with assigned brokers or with the broader team to participate in industry conference or events
  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort in dealing with the concept of a blank sheet of paper
  • A strong entrepreneurial drive and desire to build and win together as a high performing team
  • As a seasoned Underwriter, you will actively participate in mentoring fellow Underwriters, leveraging your extensive experience to foster their professional development and contribute to the overall success of the team
