Overview
This position requires the employee to identify, acquire, and grow new and existing profitable business relationships with small to medium-sized businesses, creating value for the customer and generating net new commercial loan growth along with new to bank deposit balances for the organization. The C&I Commercial Loan Officer manages the full banking relationship of all commercial clients maintained by the position.
Responsibilities
- Follow prescribed daily prospecting activities targeting prospective borrowers, including commercial property buyers, owners, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, CPAs, attorneys, and bank personnel, to generate new loans and deposits, with required tracking of sales activities.
- Primarily sell owner-occupied commercial mortgages, secured and unsecured lines of credit, and commercial term loans. Also refer Investment CRE loans, Residential Mortgage, or Home Equity loan opportunities as appropriate.
- Develop and retain commercial business by meeting with prospects and customers with varying complexity and dollar sizes, within authorized levels of authority.
- Manage existing portfolios, monitor financial conditions, ensure timely loan renewal requests, diligently collect past due payments, conduct site visits, and maintain up-to-date loan files.
- Assist customers seeking loans or lines of credit on terms involving unsecured funds or collateral-based secured loans.
- Interview prospective commercial loan applicants to understand their business needs, capabilities, and earnings.
- Provide financial advice and counsel to customers and prospects.
- Manage all phases of the sales lifecycle, including lead generation, system management, loan structuring, product knowledge, and financial analysis.
- Use decision-making tools and credit analysis skills to make appropriate credit and structuring decisions.
- Complete all required paperwork and reports accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations, security policies, and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in weekly team meetings to report on leads and new business development progress.
Qualifications
- Five to seven years of related experience or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and relevant regulations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing environments.
- Attention to detail and PC proficiency.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Good judgment and ability to make timely decisions.
- Ability to calculate figures such as interest, discounts, and percentages.
- Effective presentation and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client locations.
