ROLE OVERVIEW
The VP, Business Development is responsible for leading the growth of ref errals from health systems, referring providers , hospital discharge planners, and other referral sources within the national footprint . We are seeking a dynamic, strategic and execution -focused leader who is experienced with building and leading high-performing teams . This leader will be accountable for instilling operational rigor, defining scalable processes, and fostering a performance culture that emphasizes accountability, motivation, and professional growth. The position will report directly to the Chief Growth Officer and will work hand-in-hand with cross departmental leadership to drive growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Referral Strategy & Execution
Develop and lead the national strategy to expand and deepen referral relationships with health systems, primary care providers, discharge planners, and other referral sources .
Establish metrics, goals, and playbooks to drive referral growth across all key regions.
Collaborate cross-functionally (clinical ops, marketing, payer relations, etc.) to align referral growth with capacity and care delivery goals.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing national business development team
Establish and communicate a clear vision for ‘ what great looks like ’ and implement mechanisms for coaching, performance management, and career development.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and results-driven execution.
Process Maturity & Scalability
Evaluate and upgrade business development processes, tools, and systems to enable scale.
Implement territory planning, CRM utilization , performance tracking, and lead management workflows.
Ensure data-driven decision-making and reporting at all levels of the organization.
Partnership Expansion & Innovation
Identify and close high-value strategic partnerships with new health system and enterprise accounts.
Serve as an executive sponsor and escalation point for key referral partners.
Monitor market trends and competitive dynamics to inform strategy.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10 + years of experience in business development, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven success leading and scaling national or regional field teams.
Demonstrated ability to drive B2B or referral-based growth in a multi-site or distributed services environment.
Strong people leadership skills with a track record of building high-performance, motivated, and accountable teams.
Excellent process-orientation with experience operationalizing business development functions.
Exceptional communication, executive presence, and relationship-building skills.
Deep industry knowledge and an extensive network of industry contacts .
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize growth opportunities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed revenue targets.
Willingness to travel (up to 25%) as required to establish and maintain business relationships.

COMPENSATION:$210,000.00 – 260,000.00/annually, with additional annual bonus potential and equity.
LifeStance provides the compensation range and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. LifeStance reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
