Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time, seasonal staffer to assist with voter registration and absentee ballot processing. Duties include handling mail, processing ballot applications, and managing the Qualified Voter File software.

You may support election inspector recruitment and perform admin tasks like answering phones and data entry. Responsibilities require attention to detail and ability to work 12+ hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 9am–5:30pm, at City Hall and other election

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience with voter registration or elections is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with registration of voters and processing absentee ballot requests.
  • Sort mail including absentee ballot and registration applications.
  • Use City’s Qualified Voter File software to manage ballot applications and envelopes.
  • Prepare ballot envelopes for mail and check in returned ballots.
  • Support election inspector recruiter/trainer as needed.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, and data entry.

Job Start Date: Approximately September 7th, 2026

Seasonal, Part-time; must be available at least 12 hours per week Monday - Friday between 9am and 5:30pm.

Nature of Work:

This position will be responsible for assisting with the registration of voters and processing and issuance of absentee ballots for each City election. Duties may include sorting mail, including applications received via mail for absentee ballots and voter registration, checking general city clerk email box, and using the City’s Qualified Voter File software to receive ballot applications, assign ballot numbers, prepare ballot envelopes for mail, and check in returned ballots. May perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the City’s election inspector recruiter/trainer. Additional responsibilities also include administrative tasks such as answering the phone, filing, and data entry.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Incumbent must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF)
  • At least one year of prior election experience, including election inspector experience, but preferably election administration experience
