Job summary

The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) is seeking a VOSH Safety Engineer to support the RoanokeRegion and Lynchburg Field Office locations. You will participate in inspections, assess hazards, and contribute to regulatory compliance to promote workplace safety and health.

Your role involves collaboration with directors and compliance officers to uphold safety standards, investigate incidents, and document findings for enforcement and corrective action.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal/state occupational safety and health standards and regulations.
• Experience performing inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Ability to develop and recommend corrective actions and controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for inspections by reviewing the employer history and researching industry practices and safety measures.
• Perform independent walk-around site visits and observations to identify hazards.
• Identify and evaluate workplace exposures to health risks (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic).
• Document effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct interviews with management and employees to determine exposure to hazards.
• Prepare case file documentation including inspection reports and citations.
