Florence County SC is seeking a Workforce and Volunteer Coordinator to manage and develop the department’s volunteer firefighters and auxiliary members, while supporting workforce planning for career staff. The role ensures a well-trained, engaged volunteer workforce that complements operations and community programs.

The coordinator will recruit volunteers, develop policies, coordinate training, and organize engagement activities, serving as the primary contact for volunteer-related inquiries.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible firefighting experience.
• Experience in volunteer management, workforce development, HR, or related field.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with paid staff, volunteers, and command personnel.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteer firefighters and program participants.
• Develop and maintain volunteer policies and performance standards.
• Support workforce planning for career staff through staffing assessments and training coordination.
• Coordinate with Training Division to ensure required training and certifications.
• Plan volunteer engagement activities and recognition events.
