Volunteer Virtual Classroom Speaker - U.S. Only (Physiological Response to Fear)

Description

I will be doing a unit in October on fear and understanding fear. I would like a professional who deals with the paranormal or supernatural to speak with my students. Even a professor or psychiatrist with extensive knowledge or analysis of fear would be great.

Takeaways:

I would like students to understand that fear is simply a physiological response to external stimuli and not something that should control us. I want students to understand fear is something that can be understood and controlled.

Questions:

How does fear affect us?

How do we deal with or understand fear as Americans?

How do other cultures across time and space deal with fear?

What are the most common fears in our local area (upstate NY) as well as across the world? What are the differences? Why?
