Volunteer STEM Summer Gala Coordinator

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

OVERVIEW:

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Volunteer STEM Summer Gala Coordinator team. This role is ideal for individuals excited to celebrate student achievements by helping plan our Pre-University STEM Innovation Program Achievement Galas.

Location: Remote – Work from anywhere with an internet connection.

Duration: 4 months – From planning to event completion.

Hours per Week: Approximately 4 hours – Flexible, with virtual meetings and independent tasks.

Program Prep Locations: University of Calgary, McMaster University, Simon Fraser University, University of Waterloo, University of Toronto

DUTIES:

  1. Work with the committee to organize and plan the STEM Summer Achievement Galas.
  2. Coordinate event logistics such as virtual platforms, schedules, and speaker arrangements.
  3. Assist in creating engaging content to highlight student accomplishments in STEM.
  4. Support outreach to participants, families, and sponsors for gala promotion.
  5. Attend virtual planning meetings to ensure a successful and memorable event.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Passion for celebrating student success and STEM education.
  2. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  3. Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team setting.
  4. Experience in event planning or coordination is a plus but not mandatory.
  5. Access to a reliable internet connection and familiarity with virtual tools (email and Zoom).
