Job summary

UK King’s Daughters in Ashland, Kentucky seeks a hands-on professional to support Volunteer Services, Gift Shop, and Auxiliary activities. You will collaborate with leaders, volunteers, and vendors to run programs efficiently and enhance volunteer and customer experiences.

Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, records management, event support, merchandising, and daily retail operations, with emphasis on customer service and shop presentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in retail operations, volunteer services, nonprofit operations, healthcare, customer service or event coordination.
  • Experience in fundraising, merchandising, or retail operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, placement, scheduling, and support.
  • Maintains volunteer records, required documentation, and service-hour tracking.
  • Supports volunteer engagement, recognition, communications, and retention efforts.
  • Assists with Auxiliary fundraising events, seasonal sales, uniform sales, and other revenue-generating activities.
  • Provides event, vendor, and committee support for Auxiliary programs and initiatives.
  • Assists in managing merchandise, inventory, and stock levels for Auxiliary retail stores.
  • Coordinates daily retail operations, including sales, order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cash handling.
  • Maintains inventory records, conducts physical counts, and enters merchandise into inventory systems.
  • Collaborates on merchandising, marketing, and promotional strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains attractive store presentation standards.
  • Supports staff scheduling, onboarding, training, and development activities.
  • Reviews sales trends and customer preferences to inform merchandising decisions.
  • Assists with marketing, promotions, special events, and social media activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of Auxiliary, volunteer, fundraising, and retail operations.

Job Summary

Collaborates with leaders, team members, volunteers, and vendors to ensure efficient operations and positive volunteer and customer experiences, and successful Volunteer Services and Auxiliary programs.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience Requirement

2-3 years of experience in retail operations, volunteer services, nonprofit operations, healthcare, customer service, event coordination, or a related field.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Ability to assist with volunteer activities, fundraising events, and operational support, including event setup and breakdown. This position requires regular standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; intermittent standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; intermittent lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions on an intermittent basis. Also involves occasional risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning equipment or materials; occasional risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; occasional exposure to temperature extremes and cuts/punctures.
