Job description

Join to apply for the Volunteer: Parkview Hospice Visitor Volunteer Wabash role at Parkview Health.

Parkview Hospice provides professional health care in the privacy of homes and in many area long-term care facilities. As a service of Parkview Health, we are a not-for-profit agency offering services tailored to patients and caregivers' needs. We are licensed by Indiana, accredited by the Joint Commission, and certified by Medicare and Medicaid, with locations in Columbia City, Fort Wayne, Huntington, and Kendallville, serving northeastern Indiana.

Hospice Volunteers may visit patients, provide relief, and support grieving caregivers. Visits may occur at home, facilities, or the Supportive Care Unit at Randallia hospital. Tasks include running errands, talking, reading, listening, and emotional support. Volunteers with special skills may record videos, entertain, do yard work, light cleaning, or provide specialized care. Vigil Volunteers visit patients nearing death, while Vet to Vet pairs veterans with veteran patients. Certified pet therapy volunteers may visit with animals.

For those preferring non-visiting roles, options include patient phone calls and letter writing for companionship. Volunteers also support office functions like answering phones, typing, mailing, filing, and assisting with fundraising and PR projects.
