Mission Statement

To create a world-class maritime museum and floating memorial dedicated to the men and women who built, sailed, protected, and served on American merchant ships during times of war and peace.

Description

The American Victory served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, and now supports active duty and reserve military, law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, working dogs, and more. As a nonprofit, the ship is open daily for tours, with volunteers restoring the ship, creating exhibits, providing educational programs—including for U.S. Naval Sea Cadets—and serving as a training platform. It is one of only four operational WWII merchant vessels in the U.S. and Tampa’s only nonprofit, national historical landmark dedicated to community service.

There are various roles available onboard, including deck hands, painters, engineers, tour guides, watch standers, and historians!
