Volunteer: Manager, PR & Media Relations (Hybrid)

Dallas Pets Alive! is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and rehoming pets in North Texas. We focus on rescuing healthy and treatable animals at risk of euthanasia, reducing owner surrenders, and promoting adoption as the best option for pets in need.

We are seeking a PR & Media Relations Manager to develop and maintain our public image. This volunteer role involves working closely with various departments to craft media messages, manage inquiries, and promote our events and success stories.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic PR plans, write and distribute press releases and media alerts
  • Research and pitch compelling stories related to our animals and volunteers
  • Manage media inquiries and share media coverage with teams
  • Coordinate with leadership for media spokespeople and messaging
  • Promote and support our major events such as Pup Crawl, Tails of Triumph, and North Texas Giving Day
  • Create engaging content for social media and online platforms
  • Assist with media coverage at events and develop story ideas
Qualifications
  • At least 18 years old
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, communications, marketing, or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of PR experience preferred
  • Strong copywriting, editing, and media relations skills
  • Knowledge of local media markets and existing media contacts is a plus
  • Experience with photo and video content creation is desirable
