Improve Disaster Relief/Recovery in Bangladesh (remote)

We are seeking volunteers to:

1. Identify Bangladesh-based NGOs that respond to disasters on the local/national level. Aim for at least 20 per division. Please note: these should not be international NGOs. We will invite selected NGOs to join www.smartresponse.org/bangladesh.
2. Engage the diaspora community and others, both inside Bangladesh and globally, who are interested in supporting local NGOs directly.
3. Build awareness and share content on a Bangladesh-specific Facebook page (Facebook Page) and share information about the organizations listed on the SmartResponse Bangladesh page.

Disaster Accountability Project (DAP) aims to save lives and reduce suffering by enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of disaster preparedness, response, relief, and recovery through oversight, transparency, advocacy, and public education.

Description

DAP is a leading nonprofit organization providing independent, long-term oversight of disaster management systems. We engage a dedicated community to promote policy research, advocacy, transparency, and encourage public participation in oversight, community organizing, and discussions related to disaster preparedness and response.

Citizen oversight is essential to ensure resources are effectively utilized, communities are engaged and resilient, and best practices and lessons learned are implemented to prevent repeated mistakes. Before DAP's creation, there was no dedicated, independent oversight of the agencies responsible for these critical, life-saving responsibilities.
