General Description:

Under minimal supervision, implements and coordinates volunteer programs that support patients and families, enhancing their experience at the hospital.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with department leadership and volunteer services to determine, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs for patients and families.
  2. Utilize volunteer and community resources to enhance patient experiences through programming.
  3. Build and maintain community relationships to expand patient and family programming.
  4. Manage communication with donors and coordinate community fundraising and development events.
  5. Support volunteers with training, orientation, shadowing, and behavior modeling as needed.
  6. Evaluate and improve volunteer roles to meet patient and family needs, ensuring adequate training.
  7. Work closely with volunteers to understand daily patient and family needs during programming.
  8. Assess the outcomes of programs to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or higher preferred.

Experience: At least one (1) year in customer service or program coordination; experience with pediatric and/or adult patients and families in a hospital setting preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: None required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques for facilitating activities with individuals and groups.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervisory skills for managing volunteers and students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships and handle challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement tools and process monitoring.
  • Skills in program planning, problem analysis, fundraising, and development.
  • Understanding of best practices for not-for-profit programs.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with office procedures.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
