Make a Meaningful Impact as a Volunteer Coordinator – Hospice
At Henry Ford Jackson Hospice, volunteers are an essential part of the care team, providing comfort and support to patients and families at the end of life. From companionship and emotional support to assisting with household tasks and participating in grief support, our volunteers play a vital role in enhancing quality of life during this deeply personal time.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will oversee and support the compassionate individuals who serve in this impactful program. You’ll guide volunteers through our comprehensive and free training program, match them with roles aligned to their skills and passions, and ensure a meaningful experience for both the volunteers and the patients and families they serve.
You will also need to be a self-starter who works autonomously with minimal supervision, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and collaborates effectively with the interdisciplinary care team.
Opportunities for volunteers include:
Patient home visits – Providing companionship, emotional support, and help with light household tasks.
Hospice Home support – Greeting visitors at the reception desk or spending time with patients.
Administrative support – Assisting with mailings, phone calls, event preparation, and general office tasks.
Grief support – Supporting grief groups or offering outreach to families who have experienced loss.
Whether a volunteer participates in a single event or commits regularly, you will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and compassionate environment that reflects the mission of Henry Ford Health.
