Job summary

Samaritan's Purse in Harrison County, WV is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support the U.S. Rebuild project. The role involves welcoming volunteer teams, distributing materials, coordinating lodging and meals, and providing project orientation with safety guidelines.

You will work with construction foremen and supervisors to match volunteer skills with tasks, track hours, and help prepare daily and monthly reports. The position lasts 1–2 years and requires a practical problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome volunteer teams as they arrive, distribute materials, inform about mealtimes, and explain lodging assignments.
• Provide an orientation for volunteers covering project details, safety protocols, and responsibilities for cleaning up the camp.
• Assist in safety training for all staff and volunteers.
• Coordinate scheduling with North Wilkesboro-based coordinators and liaise between Volunteer Coordinator team and Project Superintendent.
• Track volunteer hours and report to Field Support Assistant Manager.
• Match volunteer skills with tasks with Construction Foremen and assign tasks accordingly.
• Help review and prepare daily and monthly reports.
• Other duties as assigned

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our U.S. Rebuild team in Harrison County, West Virginia. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
• Greet and welcome volunteer teams as they arrive. Distribute T-shirts and volunteer materials, inform them about mealtimes, and explain lodging assignments. Provide an orientation for volunteers covering project details, the event that initiated the project, safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and responsibilities for cleaning up the camp.
• Assist in performing safety training for all staff and volunteers.
• Work with North Wilkesboro-based volunteer coordinators in scheduling volunteers and act as a liaison between the Volunteer Coordinator team and the Project Superintendent.
• Track all volunteer hours and provide reporting of this information to the Field Support Assistant Manager.
• Work with Construction Foremen to match volunteer skills with work tasks and assign tasks accordingly.
• Assist the Project Superintendent and the Office Manager in the review and preparation of daily and monthly reports.
• Other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications?

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
