Overview

Help grow a nationwide movement for truth-first, civil discourse by building and running our volunteer program. As the first dedicated Volunteer Coordinator, you will design the structure, processes, and culture that recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers who expand the Pro-Truth Pledge, deepen partnerships, and strengthen outreach. You will turn passion into measurable impact by recruiting volunteers, helping them have clear roles, providing them with strong coaching, and pursuing data-informed, metrics-based outcomes.

Responsibilities
Immediate Priorities (First 3–6 Months)
  • Design and launch a structured volunteer program with clear roles, policies, workflows, and documentation
  • Build and manage a recruiting pipeline sourcing volunteers from pledge signers, campuses, civic groups, and online communities
  • Screen applicants, coordinate interviews, manage references as needed, and lead volunteer orientations and onboarding
  • Match volunteers to roles based on skills, interests, and availability, ensuring fast and effective placement
  • Maintain accurate volunteer data, including hours contributed, activities completed, and outcomes achieved
  • Prepare volunteers for near-term outreach activities such as tabling, canvassing, phone and text banking, and online advocacy
  • Establish program goals, dashboards, and weekly reporting for volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention
Program Operations & Quality (Ongoing)
  • Maintain a master volunteer calendar, create rosters and shifts, and ensure coverage for events and campaigns
  • Develop training materials, SOPs, and scripts for key volunteer roles (e.g., outreach, events, digital engagement)
  • Coach volunteer team leads and run recurring skills sessions and practice drills
  • Provide weekly status updates including KPIs, insights, and recommended next steps
  • Monitor quality through audits, observation, and feedback, and iterate processes to improve effectiveness
Community Building & Retention (Mid-Term Focus)
  • Build a supportive, inclusive volunteer culture through recognition, meetups, and clear pathways for advancement
  • Gather feedback regularly, resolve conflicts promptly, and support a positive volunteer experience
  • Prepare volunteers to engage respectfully with people across the political spectrum
  • Support outreach to public figures and organizations through well-briefed volunteer teams
Public Representation & Communications (Mid-Term Focus)
  • Train volunteers to deliver compelling virtual presentations and represent the Pro-Truth Pledge at partner events
  • Deliver presentations directly when appropriate and model best practices
  • Support communications and media engagement through coordinated volunteer participation
Campaigns, Outreach & External Impact (Mid- to Long-Term)
  • Coordinate volunteer-led campaigns to grow Pro-Truth Pledge signatories and organizational partnerships
  • Use metrics to evaluate outreach channel performance and adjust tactics quickly
  • Equip volunteers to amplify earned media through letters to the editor, op-eds, and social media engagement
  • Coordinate rapid-response volunteer actions aligned with timely issues related to disinformation
Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship Support (Mid- to Long-Term)
  • Organize volunteer thank-you calls, small-dollar fundraising phone banks, and donor follow-ups
  • Normalize a culture of giving by offering optional, light-touch opportunities for volunteers to become donors, with clear opt-outs
  • Make gentle, values-aligned giving invitations at natural moments (e.g., onboarding, milestones, campaign kickoffs)
  • Equip interested volunteers to make peer-to-peer micro-donor asks using approved scripts and ethical guidelines
  • Track outcomes and integrate results with broader development efforts led by organizational leadership
Administration, Risk & Compliance (Ongoing)

You will ensure the program operates responsibly and in alignment with organizational standards.
