Job Description
PLA International is undertaking a research project focused on the comparative study of labor laws. This project aims to analyze and compare labor laws and enforcement mechanisms in Uganda, the US, two developing African countries, and one Asian or European country with well-established and protective labor laws. The ultimate goal is to identify effective strategies and best practices from other nations that could inform and improve Uganda's labor laws, thereby enhancing protections for workers and promoting fair labor practices.
This research will involve a comprehensive examination of legal frameworks, policies, and enforcement systems. Volunteers will contribute to the collection and analysis of data related to labor standards, worker rights, and the effectiveness of legal interventions. Furthermore, the project may include an analysis of supply chains to understand the impact of global economic structures on labor practices. This component will provide insights into how international trade and business operations influence working conditions and labor rights. Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in academic research and contribute to findings that could have a tangible impact on policy and practice.
This project is ideal for students interested in law, economics, social justice, and international development. Volunteer Role:
