Felt Education is a 501c3 organization dedicated to providing FREE and SAFE education to refugees and immigrants. A large percentage of our students are unhoused, survivors of war, torture, and trafficking, and therefore, often lack the means to access traditional education routes. At Felt, our teachers create safe online spaces to teach necessary language and workforce skills to students. Our volunteers are all trauma-sensitive practitioners. While 90% of Felt’s students are based in the US, the shift to online learning and operations has enabled Felt to welcome refugees from anywhere in the world.

We are looking for dynamic Board members who believe in our mission and are committed to helping us grow the organization, and will work diligently to meet our potential!

Requirements

Board members must:

• Board of Directors Meetings: Commit to monthly meetings (online) with 80% attendance.
• Actively fundraise for Felt Education: We expect board members to actively contribute to the work of Felt either financially or with services, expertise, or partner development (give/get).
• Network: Actively promote Felt at events and through their own networking.
• Commit to Committee Work: Dedicate approx. 10 hours per month (including meeting time) to supporting Felt initiatives via standing committees.
• Foster Belonging: Felt Education is committed to providing safe, inclusive, diverse, and welcoming spaces for all.

We specifically need people with considerable experience in the following areas:

• Media and Communications
• Nonprofit Finance
• Nonprofit Law
• Corporate engagement/Strategic partnerships
• Community Programs
