Job Description

Clarke Community School District is looking for a Volunteer Assistant Girls Tennis coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This voluntary position will assist the Head Coach in the 9-12 varsity program, focusing on athlete development both athletically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport.


• Develop and organize a practice program aligned with the Activity Director’s philosophy.


• Schedule and conduct practices according to agreed-upon schedules.


• Supervise athletes from the start of practice or game until the last athlete is picked up, ensuring all participants are accounted for at all times.


• Supervise athletes on bus trips to other schools.


• Promote the entire Clarke Community Schools Athletics program.


• Set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct, supporting contest officials.


• Foster among participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school and community.


• Promote a healthy lifestyle to student athletes.


• Assist the activities director in preparing and maintaining lists of all players eligible for athletic contests under district rules.


• Communicate with the Activities Director and/or Administrative Assistant to ensure all athletes complete and submit required documentation, including concussion, medical insurance coverage and medical examination forms before the regular practice season begins.


• Communicate with parents regarding team rules, schedule and athletic department guidelines.


• Work with the Activities Director and Activities Director Administrative Assistant to ensure accurate inventory of equipment and uniforms.


• Adhere to all safety laws and district policies.


• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Activities Director.

Qualifications

• Previous playing experience (preferred).


• Previous coaching experience in that sport (preferred).
