Job summary

City High School in Iowa City is seeking an Assistant Girls Golf Coach to support the athletics program and mentor junior high and high school athletes. The role reports to the Athletic Director and emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and competitive readiness.

The position is part-time with season-based contract days. Candidates should hold an Iowa Coaching Certification, coaching experience, and a proven ability to work with youths. Summer and weekend availability is valued.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies.

• Demonstrate enthusiasm and understand intermediate and high school students in an athletic setting.
• Monitor academic records of student/athletes while following district/state eligibility rules.
• Provide adequate supervision before, during, and after practices and competitions.
• Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with basics of the sport and progressing to advanced skills.
• Work cooperatively with other programs.
• Be willing to work in the summer, on weekends, and at other allowable times to maintain a championship program.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
• Support the health and wellbeing of student athletes.
• Maintain active CPR certification.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

JOB GOALS: To provide skills that will engage all levels of athletes and promote physical activity in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Iowa City Board of Education
• Must work to form a positive professional relationship with players, coaches, parents and fans.
• Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate and high school students in an athletic setting.
• Will assist in monitoring academic records of student/athletes while following district/state eligibility rules .
• Must provide adequate supervision before, during, and after all practices and competition.
• Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with teaching basic fundamentals of the sport and progressing to skills beyond what is considered average.
• Willing to work cooperatively with other programs.
• Willing to work in the summer, on weekends, and at other allowable times in order to maintain a championship program.
• Willingness to perform additional duties as requested by administration.
• Supporting the health and wellbeing of student athletes.
• Must maintain active CPR certification
• Other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract days determined by the season of the sport. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
