Job summary

Child Advocates of Montgomery County is seeking an Advocacy Specialist to monitor volunteers’ growth and provide case-based advocacy for children in the program. You will support training, recruitment, and fundraising efforts while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and relevant laws.

The role includes supervising up to 30 open cases, coordinating with staff and external partners, and attending court hearings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two (2) years’ experience in the field of child abuse and neglect.
• One (1) year experience in supervision of volunteers/staff.
• Degree in human services field preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of the systems and courts of child welfare, juvenile justice, and truancy.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the organization’s mission and professional behavior with internal/external stakeholders.
• Adhere to federal/state laws and HIPAA, safeguarding confidential information.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the Hotline and Senior Director within 24 hours.
• Attend trainings, conferences, and programs for continuing education.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
• Supervise volunteers on cases and manage caseloads.
• Attend court hearings and case meetings with Advocates.
• Incorporate new training on trends in child welfare and volunteer retention.
