Job Summary

A Volumetric Truck Operator is responsible for operating a volumetric concrete truck used for delivering, mixing, and pouring on demand. Responsibilities include assisting with the loading of sand and aggregate via a front-end loader, filling the water tank, and/or blowing cement from an onsite silo or trailer into the cement bin. Daily cleaning and greasing of the truck are required, along with other preventative maintenance activities. The operator often acts as the company's representative on site and should maintain a courteous, professional, and safety-oriented demeanor at all times.

Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Sign delivery tickets with customers, retain the white tickets, and submit them to the plant manager.
  • Operate the mixer to produce concrete from sand, gravel, cement, and water. Adjust slump as approved by the geo-tech representative and customer (max 15 gallons of water).
  • Assemble chutes and operate levers to release concrete per customer request.
  • Clean the truck after loading and after each delivery to prevent concrete from hardening.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections.
  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance such as oil, fuel, or coolant checks and minor repairs as needed.
  • Use Whip Around inspections to report repair issues and maintenance problems.
  • Grease trucks daily.
  • Monitor truck and equipment to ensure proper operation and appearance.
  • Spray truck surfaces with protective compounds for cleaning and resistance to concrete adhesion.
  • Operate equipment such as mixer controls, CB radios, mobile phones, and GPS to communicate with dispatch and supervisors.
  • Follow all applicable state and federal regulations, including driving to weigh stations as required.
  • Assist with plant operations, maintenance, and mechanical work as needed, including occasional operation of other plant equipment.
  • At the end of each day, park trucks in the company lot with full tanks of fuel and DEF, and ensure they are clean. Fill out the daily fuel sheet and submit it to the plant manager or nightly drop box.

  • Conform to all Federal, State, DOT, OSHA safety requirements. Report safety concerns immediately.
