Job summary

Everett Public Schools in Everett, MA is seeking a Volleyball: Boys Head Coach at Everett High School to lead the boys' volleyball program for the upcoming school year. Qualifications

  • Previous volleyball coaching experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable.
  • Knowledge of volleyball and its rules, and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport.
  • Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues, and other citizens.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other requirements by the MIAA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
  • Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached.
  • Enforce discipline and always encourage sportsmanship like behavior.
  • Attend all Athletic Department and EHS meetings that deal directly with the sport coached.
  • Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures daily.
  • Give personal support to the entire EHS staff, including school principal, school assistant principals and teachers.
  • Establish avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources for the enhancement of EHS athletics;
  • Work with community members who are involved in youth sports to encourage continued participation.
  • Organize and instruct clinics for youth programs and coaches of your sport.
  • Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment.
  • Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.
  • Performs all other duties as the principal and/or athletic director may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil, and school.

Job Description

Mission Statement: Everett Athletics strives to educate and inspire student athletes to be the BEST version of themselves!

Responsibilities:

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, scores of games, stats (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations.
  • Be available during the entire school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her team members, i.e. scholastic achievement, college entrance, citizenship.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Responsible for determining the athlete’s academic eligibility.
  • Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
  • Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached. This includes supervision, always, of the weight room, locker room and shower areas until the area is secured before and after practices and contests and bus trips.
  • Enforce discipline and always encourage sportsmanship like behavior. These standards are those set down by the Principal and Athletic Department.
  • Attend all Athletic Department and EHS meetings that deal directly with the sport coached. Including MIAA, GBL, Coaches Associations and Athletic Awards meetings. Stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their sport.
  • Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures daily.
  • Give personal support to the entire EHS staff, including school principal, school assistant principals and teachers.
  • Establish avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources for the enhancement of EHS athletics;
  • Work with community members who are involved in youth sports in order to encourage the young women and young men to continue to participate in sports at the high school level.
  • Organize and instruct clinics for the youth programs and coaches of your individual sport. Directly supervise squad members at home and away contests.
  • Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Coaches are responsible for equipment not returned by his team members at the designated time.
  • Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.
  • Performs all other duties as the principal and or athletic director may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil, and school.
