Mission Statement: Everett Athletics strives to educate and inspire student athletes to be the BEST version of themselves!

Responsibilities: As a JV Coach you are directly responsible to the Head Baseball Coach and the Director of Athletics. The coach of an individual sport must realize that any activity sponsored by EHS Athletics is part of the total program offered by EHS. Individuals in charge of such activities must utilize sound educational principles and goals if athletics are to be a worthwhile part of the overall school program. Some of the duties of the coach shall include:

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, scores of games, stats (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations.
  • Be available during the entire school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her team members, i.e. scholastic achievement, college entrance, citizenship.
  • Responsible for determining the athlete’s academic eligibility.
  • Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
  • Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached. This includes supervision, always, of the weight room, locker room and shower areas until the area is secured before and after practices and contests and bus trips.
  • Enforce discipline and always encourage sportsmanship like behavior. These standards are those set down by the Principal and Athletic Department.
  • Attend all Athletic Department and EHS meetings that deal directly with the sport coached. Including MIAA, GBL, Coaches Associations and Athletic Awards meetings. Stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their sport.
  • Give personal support to the entire EHS staff, including school principal, school assistant principals and teachers.
  • Establish avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources for the enhancement of EHS athletics.
  • Directly supervise team members at home and away contests.
  • Assist in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Coaches are responsible for equipment not returned by his/her team members at the designated time.
  • Perform all other duties as the head coach and or athletic director may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil, and school.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous baseball coaching experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable.
  • Knowledge of baseball and its rules, and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport.
  • Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues, and other citizens.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • CPR Certification
  • Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other requirements by the MIAA preferred
