Job summary

The Harlem YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, is seeking an Activity Specialist to lead volleyball in the Y Afterschool program. This part-time role focuses on safe, engaging instruction, positive youth development, and culminating events.

Responsibilities include teaching fundamentals, supervising participants, coordinating activities with staff, and maintaining documentation. Requires volleyball certification and two years' youth experience; strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with youth and volleyball activities.
• Formal certification in volleyball required.
• General knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.
• Teach fundamentals of volleyball and build skill and confidence.
• Coordinate culminating performance at program end when applicable.
• Collaborate with Afterschool Counselors, staff, teachers, and caregivers.
• Maintain accurate program documentation and act as a positive role model.
