Overview
Voice Technician - Telecoms Exchange Engineering • Location: Downtown Denver • 6 month temporary engagement • 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday • base pay range $35.00/hr - $40.00/hr
This role supports a national project across the USA, engaging telecommunications engineers to work in exchanges and participate in connectivity schemes between the main distribution frame (MDF) and switch infrastructure. The position requires working on main distribution frames (MDF) and intermediate distribution frames (IDF).
Responsibilities
- Provide 2-wire jumpers to complete circuits between the MDF and 20c switching infrastructure according to an agreed schedule.
- Terminate 2-wire jumpers using twist and soldering techniques or IDC tools as appropriate.
- Test 2-wire provision prior to changeover.
- Recover old wiring as specified in the job pack.
- Provide and test 2Mb coaxial circuits between DDFs.
- Support changeover of service in collaboration with the team.
- Support decommissioning of switch infrastructure.
- Recover redundant infrastructure from the footprint.
Qualifications & requirements
- HN1 basic frames accreditation and HN4 frames accreditation.
- Proficiency with soldering and IDC tools; experience making up and testing 3002 coaxial links.
- Experience working on jumpering and decommissioning of voice infrastructure.
- Ability to work within a team and coordinate with others during changeovers and outages.
- Own transport to site is required.
