GEO Group seeks a Vocational Instructor in Florida to deliver classroom instruction and hands-on training to inmates, focusing on labor and technical skills to expand learning opportunities.

You will maintain records, assess educational needs, develop lesson plans, administer and interpret examinations, and counsel students on performance and conduct; eligibility for a Florida Educator’s certificate must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years wage-earning experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years teaching experience.
• Eligible to apply for Florida Educator’s certificate; must obtain within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to inmates for labor and/or technical skills through classroom instruction, demonstration and practical exercises.
• Maintain records including testing, attendance and general record keeping.
• Assess educational needs of inmates and develop lesson plans addressing those needs with individualized assignments and training.
• Administer, score, and interpret examinations and proficiency indicators.
• Counsel students regarding performance, behavior and personal problems.
