Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and relate the persons served' work/educational history, interests, aptitude, abilities, and physical skills to vocational potential and training needs. Develop vocational rehabilitation treatment plans with an interdisciplinary team based on evaluations and client goals.
  • Administer direct treatment using vocational rehabilitation techniques. Set up programs to build skills necessary for independence, emphasizing vocational skills.
  • Design pre-vocational programs to assess current skills, abilities, and interests. Oversee individual treatment plans implemented by supported rehabilitative staff.
  • Create community reintegration activities to support vocational needs during physical activities. Help clients understand their needs and limitations for effective management during functioning.
  • Provide training to clients and involved parties, analyze and document training outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess client needs, set measurable objectives with the rehabilitation team, and adjust treatments for optimal results.
  • Apply professional knowledge and skills according to clinical standards to facilitate problem resolution and achieve individualized goals.
  • Report progress to the rehabilitation team, clients, and families.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in clients' conditions to appropriate team members.
  • Document treatment progress and status in accordance with the Plan of Treatment.
  • Participate in team meetings, provide input, and develop effective treatment strategies. Attend case conferences and family meetings.
  • Develop, teach, and assess treatment plans. Guide rehabilitation staff in their implementation, including discharge planning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and share information only when appropriate and in the best interest of the client.
  • Collect data for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Participate in staff development, obtain continuing education, and enhance clinical skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on client, office, or program needs.
Qualifications
  • Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be provided.
  • Complete all required pre-employment evaluations. Good organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, reliable transportation, and physical capability to perform duties (lifting, standing, bending, etc.).
  • Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or equivalent, with at least two years of vocational counseling experience with neurological impairments. Knowledge of neurologic injury and orthopedic rehab techniques. Maintain relevant professional licenses/certifications. Effective communication skills required.
