Job summary

Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. seeks an Employment Specialist to provide direct care and personal adjustment services for ACCES-VR participants and NYSID clients. You will develop jobs, coach candidates, train skills, assess readiness, counsel, and create employer contacts in the community.

You will manage case documentation, coordinate transportation, and advocate to promote successful employment and community inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with two years in related field or associate’s with one year experience.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and substance use disorders preferred.
• Experience in employment or vocational services preferred.
• Sales/Marketing or previous job development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies suitable jobs or businesses matching applicants’ desires and limitations.
• Assesses eligibility and determines best placements for candidates.
• Develops employment proposals and negotiates schedules, pay, benefits, etc.
• Provides vocational counseling and guidance.
• Instructs resume writing, job search and interview techniques.
• Assists with job applications, interviews, and orientation programs.
• Provides follow-up to ensure stabilization at new job.
• Interviews and evaluates applicants for services.
• Assesses job readiness through observation and testing.
• Develops instructional plans and adjusts strategies as needed.
• Ensures services promote meaningful employment.
