Job summary

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department seeks a qualified vocational counselor to help individuals with disabilities achieve competitive employment. You will coordinate services, provide counseling, and directly assist with job placement.

You will conduct assessments, design and implement IPEs, manage caseloads, and collaborate with employers, the medical community, and vendors while upholding equal opportunity commitments and flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or CSPD-qualifying field.
• Ability to counsel and advise students and youths with disabilities toward vocational goals using IPE.
• Effective communication with consumers, vendors, employers, medical professionals and coworkers.
• Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems and derive conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment by coordinating services including vocational counseling, guidance, and direct job placement.
• Conduct and coordinate communication assessments, vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction with individualized plans for employment (IPE).
• Complete caseload management activities weekly.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
