Job summary

School of Rock Boulder is seeking a Vocal Instructor to lead private lessons and group rehearsals, focusing on high-quality voice instruction across the School of Rock’s five core areas: keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums.

The role requires 1-2+ years of music teaching or performance, solid music theory knowledge, and a student-centered approach. Expect engaging lessons, direct parent communication, and a dynamic, rock-inspired learning environment on site in Boulder.

Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
  • Basic knowledge of music theory.
  • Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Very strong customer relations skills.
  • Resourceful and good problem-solver.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
  • Good judgment a must.
  • Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
  • Ensure students are learning fundamentals of music, not just songs.
  • Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
  • Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons.
  • Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
  • Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program.
  • Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
  • Adhere to the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies.

With over 425 schools, and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world. We put on shows to teach music! We are looking for a Vocal Instructor to join us at our School of Rock Boulder location.

As a Vocal Instructor/teacher you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within the lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Vocal Teacher positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.

We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.

Music Instruction:
  • Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
