Job summary

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) seeks a Vocal Coach for its School of Film and Acting to guide undergraduate and graduate students in musical theater and pop styles. You will work with voice minors and BFA/MFA performers in one‑on‑one settings.

You will coach up to 12 students per quarter, develop repertoires, and help assemble effective audition books for professional auditions. You will also contribute as coach, music director, conductor, or accompanist and create musical

• Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance or related field
• At least five years of success in the field of voice through professional work or higher education
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
• Successful evidence of teaching a variety of music styles

Responsibilities

• Coach up to 12 students per quarter in one‑hour sessions to enhance their vocal performance and acting interpretation skills in preparation for professional auditions
• Develop personalized repertoires and audition books tailored to individual students
• Help students strategically assemble an industry‑standard audition book for musical theater and pop performances
• Contribute to musical theater classes and rehearsals as a coach, music director, conductor, or accompanist
• Create musical projects for the department to rehearse and perform throughout the year

Job description

As a vocal coach for the acting program at the School of Film and Acting, you will guide undergraduate and graduate students in performing a variety of musical styles, including musical theater and pop music. You’ll work closely with students enrolled as voice minors, music composition minors, and those pursuing a B.F.A. or M.F.A. in performing arts with strong musical theater interests in one‑on‑one settings.

To support the university’s overall mission — preparing talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment — you will:

• Coach up to 12 students per quarter in one‑hour sessions to enhance their vocal performance and acting interpretation skills in preparation for professional auditions
• Develop personalized repertoires and audition books tailored to individual students
• Help students strategically assemble an industry‑standard audition book for musical theater and pop performances
• Contribute to musical theater classes and rehearsals as a coach, music director, conductor, or accompanist
• Create musical projects for the department to rehearse and perform throughout the year

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

Work hours:

The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
