Job description

Job Title: VMware Cloud Engineer

Job Description :

1. Servers’ hardware maintenance, firmware updates, and upkeep.
2. Build new VMs and decommission servers; rack, stack, plumb, and decommission physical servers in the datacenter.
3. Perform VMware upgrades and updates, including VMware tools, VM hardware updates, security fixes, and basic troubleshooting.
4. Monitor system alerts, perform remediation, and follow-ups.
5. Coordinate with various application teams/analysts for downtime planning and scheduling of activities such as server updates, hardware maintenance, and application updates.
6. Manage WSUS interface and understand selective OS patching methods.
7. Maintain basic knowledge of PowerShell ISE and scripting.
8. Understand active directory and GPO management for troubleshooting WSUS GPOs as needed.
9. Manage Solarwinds and printing systems, including VPSX by LRS for printing.
10. Handle Dell OME for hardware management, BIOS, etc.
11. Use VMware to place hosts in maintenance mode for OS and hardware updates.

Responsibilities and Duties :

1. Audit patching success and failure.
2. Perform manual patching of systems based on vendor-approved patch lists.
3. Manually patch systems requiring specific procedures for shutdown/startup.
4. Run pre-written PowerShell scripts to safely bring down and restart applications.
5. Create new printer records and decommission retired printers using VPSX for EPIC printing.
