* Position is located in Billings, MT
The VMI Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the client's supply inventory, including deliveries and management programs, establishing safe handling practices, managing efficient order processing & invoicing, initiating & executing cost reduction programs, reporting, and day-to-day customer interface at the client location. The VMI Technician will be the first line Airgas representative with the customer for all consumables and safety supplies related issues.
Additionally, the individual in this role serves as the relief driver for the branch, covering routes when other drivers are on vacation, out sick, or as needed throughout the week. This may also require an occasional overnight stay.
In particular you will:
- Deliver and replenish industrial products and vending machine or storeroom items to customers.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical vending systems as needed.
- Review manual stock levels at multiple plant departments for reordering.
- Maintain branch inventory levels for proper replenishment.
- Track and submit delivery and consignment fill tickets.
- Assist warehouse or production facilities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business, Welding Technology, or Sales preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product distribution or inventory management.
- Experience with welding and safety products or related industrial products is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic operations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated; operates with a sense of urgency; able to work independently and under pressure.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Strong planning and personal relationship skills.
- Clear and effective speaking manner for explaining information to customers and employees.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Frequent movement through manufacturing and other locations.
- Active listening and information exchange skills.
- Ability to observe and assess equipment and information via computer.
- Required to detect leaking gas from cylinders.
- Regularly position self to equipment and ascend/descend.
- Lift and transport up to 125 pounds with equipment.
- Work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including seasonal weather conditions.
- Visit various Airgas and customer sites with differing environments and accessibility, which may contain loud noises or odors.
Pay Range: $25-28/hr.
As an Airgas Driver:
- Must have a valid MT Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements (hazmat can be obtained after offer).
- Must have at least 1 year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years and a clean driving record, or equivalent driving school diploma with minimum one year of recent experience.
