Cincinnati Children’s is hiring for a day shift position at our Burnet Campus in the Comparative Medicine department. This full-time role involves cage washing, equipment operation, and daily housekeeping within the vivarium, with emphasis on safety and inventory control.

The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods. Preference is given to candidates with related supply chain or warehouse experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cage Wash - Cleans & sterilizes cages, equipment, supplies, rooms, etc.
  • Equipment Operation - Operate pressure washer and industrial cage washers and document functions.
  • Housekeeping - Daily and periodic housekeeping of vivarium areas and inventory maintenance.
  • Safety - Monitor first aid kits, eye wash stations and equipment condition.
  • Supplies and Equipment - Deliver and organize clean/dirty equipment and cages.

Primary Location Burnet Campus Department Comparative Medicine Shift Day (United States of America) Schedule Full time Weekly Hours 40 FTE 1 Employee Status Regular *Expected Starting Pay Range $18.16 - $22.25 *Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on‑call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cage Wash - Cleans & sterilizes cages, equipment, supplies, rooms (primary and secondary enclosures), etc. Prepares refuse for disposal or incineration.
  • Equipment Operation - Able to operate pressure washer and industrial cage washers, perform and document functions performed in the appropriate log, and clean and maintain all cages, automatic water lines, and other related equipment.
  • Housekeeping - Completes daily and periodic housekeeping of assigned areas which may include bathrooms, locker rooms, and surgery spaces within the vivarium. Restocks and maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies in assigned areas.
  • Safety - Monitors first aid kits, eye wash stations and functioning emergency exit on cage was equipment. Monitors & maintains washers & sterilizers in proper working condition.
  • Supplies and Equipment - Delivers clean and/or dirty equipment and cages to and from cage wash as required. Maintains efficient organization & flow of supplies & equipment through cage wash area.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand the duration of shift, and perform repetitive physical activities such as: pushing and pulling wheeled racks and carts, utilize a ladder or step stool, lift above shoulder level, reaching, stooping, and bending
  • Preferred: Related experience working in supply chain, materials management or warehouse roles
