Job summary

Grand Canyon University seeks a student employee to support vivarium operations. Duties include cage cleaning, weight logging for rats, and participation in testing sessions with the vivarium team.

Requirements include current full-time enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program, GPA stipulations, and strong verbal/written communication. Proficiency in MS Office and typing is expected. End date June 30, 2027; on-site work in Phoenix.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at GCU.
• Maintain GPA requirements: 2.0 for Bachelor’s students; 3.0 for Master’s students.
• Maintain SAP standing with the University.

Responsibilities

• Assist in weekly cage cleaning.
• Weigh rats weekly and maintain weight log.
• Be present for testing sessions Monday–Saturday, 11:00–3:00 as needed.
• Maintain testing log and video database.
• Attend weekly vivarium leadership team meetings.
• Attend weekly lab meetings with the team.
• Monitor and communicate PPE/food/bedding orders.
• Handle equipment use and responsibilities.
• Good verbal and written communication is essential.
• Proficient typing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Self-motivated with a desire to learn and serve.
