Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Supervisor for Comparative Medicine – Husbandry in Los Angeles. The role oversees animal care staff, ensures compliance with animal-use regulations, and coordinates daily vivarium operations.

You will lead training, maintain records, and drive process improvements in collaboration with department leadership. The position requires extensive experience in laboratory animal science, team leadership in AAALAC-accredited facilities, and strong operational skills to support

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of experience in laboratory animal science.
• Two (2) years of experience in team leadership of animal care staff in AAALAC accredited facility.
• Ability to operate technological devices (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone).
• Ability to communicate expectations and priorities, and clarify roles and responsibilities.
• Ability to demonstrate time management and priority setting skills.
• Supervises day-to-day work of employees, assigns tasks, ensures deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for supervision of husbandry technicians including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, work assignments, and performance reviews.
• Oversees development and updates of the training program for husbandry technicians including animal care, health, safety and record keeping.
• Establishes and maintains performance metrics and produces reports for leadership.
• Manages projects for husbandry program development with scope, timeline, and delegation.
• Maintains records to support annual reports to USDA, IACUC, AAALAC and others.
• Creates and updates SOPs and related documents for husbandry tasks and processes.
• Maintains relationships with Research Facilities Operations and external vendors for equipment and maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with regulations governing laboratory animals and biosafety.
