Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Vitreoretinal Surgeon to join our team of expert ophthalmologists. The ideal candidate will specialize in the medical and surgical management of diseases affecting the retina, vitreous, and macula. This role involves diagnosing and treating complex retinal conditions, performing advanced surgical procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Care:
  • Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of retinal and vitreous conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular holes, and other complex cases.
  • Provide consultations for referred patients, offering expert opinions and tailored treatment plans.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as OCT, fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, and ultrasonography to support clinical decisions.
Surgical Expertise:
  • Perform a range of vitreoretinal procedures, including vitrectomy, scleral buckling, laser photocoagulation, and intravitreal injections.
  • Manage surgical complications and provide postoperative care to ensure optimal outcomes.
Patient Communication and Education:
  • Educate patients and their families about retinal diseases, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Foster a compassionate and trusting relationship with patients.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work closely with other ophthalmologists, optometrists, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and referrals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MD with a completed residency in ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship Training: Completion of a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery is required.
  • Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in ophthalmology.
  • Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in New York State.
