The Vitamin/Body Care Assistant supports the Vitamin and Body Care Managers in ensuring the successful operation and profitability of these departments.

Natural Grocers is excited to open in the Ruidoso community, with a scheduled grand opening in September 2025, subject to change.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service, creating a positive shopping experience daily.
  • Uphold integrity, responsibility, and excellence, adhering to all company policies.
  • Create inviting, well-stocked, and shopable departments.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining accurate inventory for vitamin and body care departments.
  • Support department managers in managing margins, driving sales, and maximizing profitability, including minimizing shrinkage and optimizing purchasing.
  • Ensure all products and conditions meet company standards.
  • Handle special orders, merchandising, tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock management.
  • Assist in training and supervising department staff, including task assignments and follow-up.
  • Conduct product demos, both active and passive.
  • Work with managers to address performance issues within the department.
  • Support store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Reports (DSR), cash handling, and cashier responsibilities.
  • Manage register functions, including backup cashiering, customer returns, handling complaints, and shift changes.
  • Maintain customer and employee safety and security.
  • Respond to customer inquiries per company standards, including health and nutritional support statements.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge.
  • Utilize SAP, inventory management software, email, and other systems as needed.
  • Work a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, totaling five days and 40 hours per week, with mandatory meetings.
  • This position has limited Manager on Duty responsibilities but is not the overall store manager.

All employees are expected to be proactive and versatile to ensure the company's success.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail or grocery experience preferred; natural foods experience is a plus.
  • Experience supervising others is preferred.
  • Experience in vitamins/supplements is preferred.
  • Ability to pass food safety courses and maintain certifications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and stay focused.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks.
  • Cashier trained and able to handle currency.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
