Job summary

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works is seeking a Level II Visual Trades Inspector to inspect ship structure and piping with emphasis on final and in-process checks. You will oversee quality across products and interact with production supervision and customers on structure, outfitting, and piping.

The role requires experience in shipbuilding trades, the ability to read drawings, and the pursuit of Level II VT certification.

Qualifications

• Experience in at least one of Welding, Shipfitting, or Pipefitting.
• Ability to read structural, outfitting, or pipe drawings and understand symbols.
• Must be able to obtain Level II VT certification.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• BIW Apprentice graduate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect ships structure and piping, both final and in-process.
• Provide oversight on quality of products manufactured at Bath Iron Works.
• Interact with production supervision and customers on structure, outfitting, and piping.
• Ensure inspection of location, fit up, and welds.
• Maintain safety and quality standards across processes.
