Job summary

The Wall Street Journal in New York is seeking a driven student journalist for a graphics internship, offering hands-on newsroom experience before senior year.

You will produce compelling visual journalism, including data-driven interactives, maps and charts, while learning WSJ systems and best practices. Mentorship and tailored training sessions accompany this internship, with finalists contacted and rolling review. Internship spans 10 weeks June–August.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
• Dedication to high journalism standards.
• A demonstrated interest in business reporting is a plus, though prior business or economics reporting experience isn’t required.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator or Datawrapper is required.
• Experience with and interest in responsible AI experimentation, data analysis, data-driven projects is encouraged.
• Experience with front-end development is a significant bonus.

Responsibilities

• Produce compelling, and editorially strong, visual journalism, both alone and across teams, that take advantage of your strengths. This may include data-driven interactives, maps, charts, or other explanatory work.
• Learn WSJ systems and best practices for the creation of information graphics.
