Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division is seeking a capable engineer to analyze digital design data and produce accurate Visual Work Instructions (VWIs) for manufacturing. You will interpret design elements and ensure VWIs meet installation requirements, using CAD tools and collaboration with teams to resolve issues.

The role requires an Associate's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience; NNPS or NNS Apprentice School equivalents are acceptable.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in relevant field and 3 Years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent credentials may satisfy minimum qualifications (NNPS, NNS Apprentice School, or equivalent).
• Experience with manufacturing, shipbuilding, or related trades is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze digital design data and use VWIs to meet manufacturing and installation requirements.
• Interpret design elements and add parts to VWIs as needed.
• Advise management on work progress, material availability, and potential production issues.
• Use CAD tools such as Teamcenter, NX, SAP, NGP and TDP; incorporate required changes.

The Role

Analyze digital design data and utilize these products in conjunction with build plans to create quality and accurate Visual Work Instructions (VWIs). Interprets and adds design elements and portions of systems for VWIs to meet manufacturing and installation requirements. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, Teamcenter, NX, SAP, NGP and TDP. Incorporates required changes as applicable. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client‑satisfaction goals and objectives.

Must Have

Associate's Degree in relevant field and 3 Years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to an Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice to Have

Knowledge with Team Center, SAP, Trade work, NGP, and/or Excel preferred but not required.
