Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a 1st shift Quality Inspector trainee (Level 2.5) to support wax and metal visual inspections at the Whitehall, MI facility. The role requires collaboration with Quality, Engineering and Operations to reduce scrap, rework and variation, and to assist with root-cause actions.

Training for level III responsibilities will be provided; off-shift testing and training may be required. Minimum 3 years in quality/inspection and PC literacy are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in quality / inspection.
• PC literate in Word/Excel/Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Visual Level 3 to support training and oversight programs necessary to control visual inspection processes in wax and metal.
• Engage with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to support process management and MSAT initiatives to reduce variation, scrap and rework, and drive improvements of outgoing product through root cause and corrective action processes.
• Over inspect a percentage of molds to support MSAT requirements and provide feedback to inspectors and/or operators.
• Support Process Owners and Visual Level 3 with data collection, entering, and analysis as well as perform press and assembly cell process audits.
• Understand with the Level 3 the customer returns and metal/shipping rework issues to help implement changes in the inspection and manufacturing process to eliminate root cause.
• Perform visual acuity testing to maintain conformance to quality and internal requirements.
