Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care—Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences—seeks a 100% Ophthalmic Technician – Perimetry to perform visual field testing and related duties on patients on campus in Iowa City. The role may include tonometry, visual acuity testing, and eye drop instillation.

Typical schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00a–5:00p, on-campus, full-time. Required three years of healthcare patient-care experience with equipment, possible COA certification within 18 months, and strong data entry

Qualifications

• Three years of health care experience involving direct patient care including some use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment with at least one year of the prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II or equivalent, or a combination of related education and experience.
• JCAHPO certified (COA) within 18 months of hire, and maintain certification.
• Experience with Medical Terminology
• Experience with Public Contact/Customer Service

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated visual field testing including Goldmann, Humphrey, Octopus, and Maia Microperimetry Visual Fields.
• Enter data into devices, PACS, and EPIC.
• May perform tonometry, visual acuity testing and eye drop instillation.
• Care for patient with known or potentially contagious infections according to written protocols.
• Maintains equipment and exam room readiness; ensures proper billing documents are completed.
