Job summary

OpenKrill is seeking a Visual Designer to join a small creative team. You will create 2D environments, backgrounds, props, illustrations, and campaign imagery, blending traditional design with AI-powered generation.

You will collaborate with the design lead, producer, and animation team to deliver visuals that fit each project’s established style. This role suits a proactive, detail-oriented designer who can work independently and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• Proven 2D design and image-making skills with strong composition, lighting, colour, and typography.
• Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator in the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Hands-on with AI image-generation tools (Midjourney, ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Seedance, or comparable).
• Strong prompt-writing skills guiding AI toward a specific visual direction.

We’re looking for a Visual Designer to join a small creative team and create visual assets that bring stories to life. You’ll work on 2D environments, backgrounds, props, illustrations, and campaign imagery, combining traditional design skills with AI-powered image generation.

You’ll collaborate closely with the design lead, producer, and animation team to create high-quality visuals that match each project’s established style. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented designer who can work independently, adapt to different creative needs, and turn ideas into polished visual assets.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Create and extend 2D environments, backgrounds, props, illustrations, and other visual assets
• Combine original sketches, AI-generated images, and manual editing to develop high-quality visuals
• Refine compositions, lighting, colours, and visual details to achieve the desired look
• Maintain visual consistency across assets and ensure they fit the established style of each project
• Create designs that work within larger environments and can be adapted across different platforms
• Share work in progress, gather feedback at key stages, and incorporate it into the final output
• Collaborate with designers, animators, and the producer to deliver visual assets that support storytelling

WHAT WE EXPECT

MUST-HAVE

• Strong 2D design and image-making skills, with a good understanding of composition, lighting, colour, and typography
• Proven experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
• Hands-on experience with AI image-generation tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, Nano Banana, Seedance, or comparable tools
• Strong prompt-writing skills and the ability to guide AI tools towards a specific visual direction
• Ability to think in 3D space and design environments, props, and visual assets that fit a coherent style
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Independence, ownership, attention to detail, and proactive communication
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced creative environment

NICE-TO-HAVE

• Experience in gaming, animation, or similar visual-production environments
• Experience with After Effects
