Role Description

We seek a Visual/Brand/UX Designer on a contract basis to support our client’s needs. This role is remote in NYC or San Francisco. The designer will enhance brand expression across product surfaces, collaborating with product design teams, art directors, illustrators, and engineers to maintain a consistent brand system. Creativity, curiosity, and experimentation are encouraged.

Responsibilities

1. Create illustrations to support in-product feature comprehension.
2. Conceptualize and prototype brand expression within product experiences, defining style and emotional tone.
3. Develop the visual identity of the design system within product patterns and UI explorations.
4. Present strategic thinking and design directions to stakeholders.
5. Seek creative opportunities and feedback to refine styles and approaches.
6. Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring brand consistency.
7. Translate product needs into engaging, user-friendly designs.
8. Participate in team critiques, sprints, and workshops.
9. Manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and keep projects progressing.
10. Communicate design concepts effectively and contribute hands-on design work.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating product, branding, and communication design experience.
• 10+ years of professional experience in graphic/visual design for web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
• Experience with design systems at scale.
• Strong skills in visual storytelling, communication design, and digital surface work.
• Proficiency with creative tools: G-Suite, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop.
• Excellent time management, problem-solving, and task prioritization skills.
• Deep understanding of visual hierarchy, color, form, semiotics, and aesthetics.
• Knowledge of systems design and design language development.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with design systems within product teams.
• Knowledge of 3D design, motion, and animation.
• Familiarity with AI tools.
