Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop curriculum for visual arts yearly
  • Facilitate student learning through lesson planning and instruction
  • Differentiate instruction for varied student levels
  • Uphold high visual art standards
  • Foster creativity in a technology-integrated, student-led environment
  • Evaluate projects and provide meaningful feedback
  • Manage art studio operations, equipment, maintenance, supplies
  • Collaborate with students, staff, and community
  • Maintain records as required by district and administration
  • Attend required meetings and events
  • Stay current with curriculum development and assessment
  • Model excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Coach or sponsor extracurricular activity under union guidelines

Job description

  • Design and develop curriculum pertaining to any/all visual arts teaching assignments year-to-year.
  • Facilitate student learning through lesson planning and quality instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction for the potential of multiple levels of student artists in one class.
  • Adhere to and uphold the highest visual art standards.
  • Foster creativity in a technology-integrated, student-led environment.
  • Evaluate student projects and provide meaningful feedback conducive to learning and growth.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Manage art studio operations (including, but not limited to, equipment, maintenance, and supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain and update accurate records as required by the State, District, and Building Administration.
  • Attend required meetings and events.
  • Stay current with developments in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Coach or sponsor an extracurricular activity. (Compensation-RBEA Collective Bargaining Agreement)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) — Visual Arts
  • Proficiency in digital/darkroom photography, digital art, drawing, painting, and ceramics
  • Ability to communicate (written/verbal), make decisions, resolve conflict, and effectively work with staff, students, and administration
  • Candidates with multiple endorsements (in additional content areas) are encouraged to apply.
