Job summary

92NY School Engagement in the Arts seeks experienced visual arts educators to lead residencies in NYC public schools, guiding students in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and digital art to build creativity and self-expression.

You will develop lesson plans, adapt instruction for diverse learners, and collaborate with teachers and staff to meet residency goals and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field required.
• 3–5 years of experience teaching visual arts in NYC public schools or similar settings.
• Experience working in Title I schools.
• Strong foundation in visual arts across media (drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, mixed media, digital art).
• Experience developing engaging visual arts lessons and residencies for K–12 students.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead weekly Visual Arts residency sessions in NYC public schools.
• Design and facilitate grade-appropriate visual arts lessons.
• Teach various visual arts techniques and media relevant to residency.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with residency goals and student needs.
• Adapt instruction in collaboration with teachers and staff.
• Prepare students for exhibitions or showcases when applicable.
• Participate in trainings and planning meetings.
• Communicate with 92NY staff and school partners.
