Mission:
Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School is a community school whose mission is to prepare elementary school students for success in middle school, high school, college and life by providing them with a rigorous instructional experience; addressing their physical, emotional and social needs; fostering a sense of pride and hope; and serving as a safe and engaging community hub.
Position:
Children’s Aid College Prep seeks a Visual Arts Instructor to develop an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct pupils in art, such as painting, sketching, designing, and sculpturing
- Know and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
- Prepare lesson plans and establishes course goals
- Selects books and art supplies for courses
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
- Observe and evaluate student work to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement
- Confers with student, parent, and life coach to resolve student problems
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs
- Ensure that student records and documentation are accurate, timely, and meaningful
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment

Qualifications:
- Belief in accountability and that all children can achieve at high levels;
- Belief in and alignment with Children’s Aid College Prep’s mission, core values and approach;
- Commitment to the continuous assessment of students’ academic, social and behavioral progress in order to effectively plan and tailor instruction and other enrichments and interventions;
- Ability to support a positive and nurturing school culture and climate through effective classroom management skills as indicated by the ability to create a respectful, results-driven and focused learning environment;
- Demonstrated ability to be a team player with emotional and social intelligence;
- Strong work ethic that accommodates high levels of responsibility, prioritization and organizational skills and abilities to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with various teams;
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred; and
- Minimum of two years teaching experience (urban public school or charter school setting preferred).
